Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-08-10. Operated from British Columbia, Canada.
The short version
This site has no accounts, no sign-ups, and no interest in your text. Counters run in your browser wherever the tokenizer is public. Where exact counting requires a provider's API, your text passes through our counting service to that provider and is not stored by us. Analytics are standard Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager.
Text you paste into counters
- OpenAI, Kimi, and DeepSeek counters: counting runs entirely in your browser. The text you paste is never transmitted to us or anyone else.
- Claude and Gemini counters: no public tokenizer exists for these models, so exact counting requires the provider's counting endpoint. Your text is sent over HTTPS to our counting service, which forwards it to Anthropic's or Google's token-counting API solely to return a count. We do not store, log, or inspect pasted text. The providers process the request under their own API terms.
- We never use pasted text for analytics, training, or any purpose other than returning the count you asked for.
Data collected automatically
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, which sets cookies and collects standard usage data (pages viewed, approximate location, device type). Google's processing is governed by Google's privacy policy.
- Infrastructure logs: the site is served by Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses and request metadata for security, caching, and rate limiting.
- Local storage: your theme choice (dark or light) is stored in your browser's localStorage and never leaves your device.
What we do not do
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
- No advertising identifiers of our own, no fingerprinting.
- No accounts, so no account data to breach.
Jurisdiction and your rights
This site is operated from British Columbia, Canada, and handles personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law, including PIPEDA and the BC Personal Information Protection Act. You can ask what information we hold about you (typically: none beyond analytics aggregates) or ask us to delete it by contacting [email protected].
